Following the stepping back of former manager and curator Jim Grevatte, Ruddington’s Framework Knitters’ Museum has just revealed its latest boss.
After completing “a competitive recruitment process” for their new ‘Operations Manager’ role, the venues’ Trustees say they are “delighted” to announce that Ruddington resident Sarah Godfrey has been appointed. Sarah is already well known for her extensive community work within our village.
The Trustees add: “With a strong arts background, Sarah brings us an unusual combination of both creativity and commercial awareness, as well as a wealth of experience in organising and running community events. She joins the Museum team at an exciting point in our story as we now seek to make the most of our amazing new facilities, and we wish her every success in her new job.”
Sarah says: “I’m honoured to be joining the team and I’m looking forward to steering the museum into its next phase. Jim and the team have created something incredibly special at the Framework Knitters’ Museum. It’s astonishing what they have achieved!”
Sarah, who officially starts her new role next week, is particularly impressed with the museum’s recent expansion into ‘Gunn Cottage‘ – creating not only an imposing new entrance but a fresh visitor space, inside and out, called ‘Parker’s Yard’.
“The airy new cafe, shop and enclosed gardens has been named after the Parker family who lived and worked here” explains Sarah. “I can’t wait for everyone to enjoy this unique experience. It was an absolute joy to see people appreciate it (many for the first time) during our last Village Market day. They just couldn’t believe their eyes! The Parker’s Yard Cafe is locally supplied by Morton’s Deli and Split Screen Coffee so you can expect the best. It will undoubtably become a focal point for the village and beyond.”
During the summer, Ruddington’s Framework Knitters’ Museum opens Wednesdays to Saturdays 11am to 4.30pm and Sundays 1.30pm to 4.30pm – with last entry at 4pm. Admission to the Chapel Art Gallery or Parker’s Yard only – the shop, cafe and garden – is FREE.
